
Roberto Biondo is an Italian-born self-taught photographer living and working half way between the bustle of Manchester and the rural serenity of the Peak District.
His passion for photography was sparked by a lecture on Robert Capa’s Mexican Suitcase project whilst an undergraduate modern European history student. His love for history and this introduction into photography have deeply influenced his photographic approach and philosophy.
Working primarily in both digital and analog media, Roberto has developed a style which encompasses both observational photography and a more formal objective style. His visual language that is equally indebted to the style developed at the Dusseldorf School of Photography and the instinctive photography of Daido Moriyama, with his understanding of the importance of historical record. Using photography as a tool, Roberto’s work is mainly concerned with the creation of a visual record of the human landscape and the documentation of the legacy of human activity.
